Finding Secret Treasure

There were many highlights of the College of Extraordinary Experiences, and for many guests one of these was finding a hidden treasure box and its delightful contents hidden throughout the castle. These were in cupboards and drawers, behind doors in secret passages and offered everything from books to private magic shows. They were sought after and massively enjoyed.
For centuries the appeal of treasure has caused surprise and delight; rifts and battles, depending on the perceived value of the treasure to be found. The traditional finding of treasure often involves a map with diligence to follow clues, plus a bit of luck, patience and curiosity. The rewards can be thrilling, financially enhancing, or as we saw with this planted treasure, offer an intrinsic boost from the finding combined with the anticipation of what might be inside before you open it, and finally the joy in what is inside.
For me, the treasures did not come in a traditional chest or box, but in the conversations with the other participants and in the friendships forged through shared experiences. These are treasures of the heart that extend beyond the castle walls and will continue forward in life. Some may become collaborations, others continued shared experiences, or support through life’s joys and trials as we go forward on our journeys as experience designers. The value of treasure is indeed in the hands of every recipient, and for me the people met are valuable beyond measure.
