El Kwang is the human we can all hope to be one day. He is funny and smart, kind and action oriented. The last matters because when he sees something needs doing, and where he can have a sensible and positive contribution, he does it. This could mean an annual ‘holiday’ in Nepal where they take care of stray animals, something we can all appreciate. It could also mean working closely with Max to bring to life the 2019 SITE Global Conference in Bangkok, which culminated in not just a memorable event, but a SITE Thailand Chapter. This does not happen without teamwork and leadership.

El believes in living life well in all aspects. He runs, often joining with others we travel regularly with to explore the cities we find ourselves in, and eats both for delicious, but also with an eye to nutritious. He is endlessly polite, and one of the people who listens quietly and then comes in with a perspective that makes you want to pay attention.

El is also always up for an adventure – from exploring a city to diving into a pool – ocean – meal or cooking class – if it looks like fun, he is fully present for the experience. With technology his expertise has depth and breadth, and is an area where he remains a curious learner and widely shares his knowledge.

Above all else, El is an endless connector – bringing the right people together is part of his life-force. It does not matter what continent you are on, chances are El knows someone you can collaborate with. Did I mention how he also always looks… just right for any occasion, in any country. I always look forward to seeing El and can’t wait to see how he shows up the next time we connect.
